Photo orders are due next week! The submission deadline is September 30th.

Routine health screenings are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15th. If you do NOT wish for your student to be screened, please send a note to opt out by Oct. 15th.

Please remember that students are not allowed to bring toys of any kind to school! Squishies are popping, items are getting lost or damaged, and these situations create conflict and chaos that interrupts instructional time. Parents, we hope you will remind your students that toys that are spotted in the building will be confiscated.

If you were unable to sign up with the JSL Clearing House for Christmas assistance, we can still provide some resources for you! There is a form in this app that you can complete requesting information. Please note that we are just making a list at this time, so the information will not come home right away.

Please remember that we have a clothing collection bin just outside the fence on Brickmill Road! As you're cleaning out closets, you can bring your donations to this bin and every pound collected equals money for our school! These items are reallocated or recycled, which prevents them from going to a landfill. Thanks for helping our school AND our environment!

Next week is the last week for our BCS Family Resource Center food and hygiene items collection drive. The homeroom that collects the most items will win a Dunkin Donuts breakfast!! Keep sending in your items - refer to the graphic for ideas of what to send.

Monte Vista Baptist Church is hosting a free drive through food pantry tomorrow, Saturday, 9/27. See images for details!

Looking ahead:

October 5-9 is Fall Break. Students will return to school on Tuesday, October 13th after Columbus Day.

Save the date! Our 2nd and 4th grades will be featured in a Veteran's Day program that will be in the Lanier Auditorium November 6th at 1:00 - all Veterans, families, and friends are invited to attend!

Don't forget that tomorrow, 9/25, is DOLLY DAY! Let's honor the late Dolly Parton by wearing things that she'd love - think Dolly t-shirts, lots of pink, cowboy or cowgirl outfits, sparkles, tassles, or whatever you feel proud and confident wearing. Send $1 to donate to the Imagination Library if you are able!

Christmas Assistance

Did you miss the previous deadline for Christmas assistance through JSL? The program sign ups will remain open until all spaces are filled, so sign up now!

If you aren't able to get signed up with JSL, there is a form on the app that you can complete to request more information on other options for Christmas assistance this year. (Tap on "more" in the bottom right corner of the app, make sure your blue drop down list says Lanier, and go to "forms" to find it.)

Friday, 9/25, is DOLLY DAY! You are invited to send $1 to donate to the Imagination Library in honor of Dolly. Be sure to have your students wear their best Dolly gear (be creative - dress up in pink, sparkles, cowgirl/cowboy fashion, or your favorite Dolly attire)!

Please see the attached reminder about sending in parent or doctor notes when your student needs to miss school, and about tardies, particularly chronic tardiness.

Our food drive for the BCS Family Resource Center is still underway for the full month of September. The homeroom competitions are fierce - keep sending in your items (see attached list for recommendations) and see if you can help your student's class earn a Dunkin Donuts breakfast party!

Information is attached about an upcoming food pantry at Monte Vista Baptist Church (in English and Spanish).

Fall break is quickly approaching! October 5-9 is Fall Break for BCS, and Monday Oct 12 is for teachers only. Students will return on Tuesday, October 13th.

Announcements / September 12

Please review the morning drop off procedures. As posted on the signs at the gate, the front entrance (gates 2 & 3) and the front lane are reserved for buses only in the mornings. There are students loading and unloading in this area, including our special education students. For the safety of all students, please do not enter those gates or drive through the front lane in the mornings.

Our friendly food drive competition continues among homeroom classes!! Currently our 4th grade clases are in the lead, and those homerooms are in a really close competition! Keep sending in items (see the list in the graphic) for the whole month of September to earn a Dunkin Donuts breakfast for your students' homeroom!

Announcements / September 5, 2026

The Blount County Schools Family Resource Center is collecting items that will benefit our families when they fall on difficult times. Families in need can get food boxes, hygiene items, and household items from the FRC, as well as resources to help with other needs. Please see details in the attached images, including a list of items that they are collecting.

Our Eagles help with this collection every year, and this year we hope to do more than ever! Please send items with your students to be collected in their homeroom classes. The class who collects the most items by September 30th will win a Dunkin Donut breakfast for the whole class!

Remember that tomorrow (Friday, 9/5) is a Professional Development day for teachers, and Monday is Labor Day, so there will be no students on either of those days. We will see you all back on Tuesday, September 8th!
